Actually this tag very easy cos when Raelynne was born and when she got her name, I already made a blog post about it for both the meaning of Raelynne and her Chinese name Sheng Tao. Lets start with her English name. My wife has been discussing about our baby’s name for quite sometime before Raelynne was born and we also discussed whether we want to go against the flow of Raelynne’s cousins who all have names starting with R – Rachel (6 years old), Rianne (4 years old), Reyanna (2 years old), Ryan (1 year old plus) and Roxanne (6 months plus). So we actually searched for a unique name in the Internet as we don’t want to have anything common. Finally, we decided that we will just follow the rest and start the name with R. Managed to select the name RAELYNNE. Raelynne is branched out from the name Rae and as defined in few names website, it means precious sisters.

As for her Chinese name, Sheng Tao. The middle name Sheng is used by all her cousins including our immediate family member’s children as well. All the Wong family’s children all have “Sheng” as Chinese middle name. This was given/decided by our ancestors. “Sheng” as I was told means sacred. So basically we gave my Father in law this combination “Wong Sheng …..” and he searched in his Chinese “name book” which is based on what date, what time and what day she was born. We were told that a suitable Chinese name is very important to the children including his or her future. If he or she is given a wrong or bad Chinese name, it will not be good for him or her in the future. It must be suitable with its date and time of birth (that’s if you choose to believe such rules). Only two names were suitable for Raelynne, which was Ti and Tao. We didn’t really like the name Ti because if you call it Ti Ti its like younger brother… so ended up picking Tao. So what is the meaning of Tao? Peach.

So the full meaning? Precious Sisters Sacred Peach…
